My mother was at ManorCare in Whitehall for 3 weeks until we moved her to another facility for the lack of care and poor treatment she was receiving there. Call bells went unanswered for hours, she was not regularly washed. Although there for IV medication and severe back pain, she was coerced into aggressive physical therapy that caused her increased pain. Some of the nurses and most of the aides were curt, condescending and inappropriate.

I also did not find the staff to be attentive to their patients. There were a few patients we had passed that needed to use the restroom and the person give me a tour just ignore them. They need to improve on everything, they could remodel, they could be cleaner, and their employees could be a little more giving of the patients. My wife and I visited this facility in October and found it to be clean no urine smell at all in any part of the building.

They don’t talk to the patients with nice words. Many times when I came to pick up dirty clothes, they were soaked with urine or had blood on them. When I called the nurses station to check in on my family member, I would be put on hold for a good while and then got hung up on. I was also told multiple times I would receive a call back and I never did. They did not even communicate with us about how our loved ones were doing, and if we called to check in it was an inconvenience to them.

They did not take the time to set up Facetime calls so we could see our family. They also did not keep the blinds open so that we could peek in the window at them. I honestly do not have enough words to describe how terrible this place treated my family member, and I hope that no one else has to go through this. While this city received a decent overall grade, its inspection grade is better than its overall score.

The Newhaven community was excellent, the staff members were very responsive and just very caring people. They would do anything to help anybody, and they were very kind to our aunt. The Sheridan at Bethel Park is probably a very good assisted living care home. However, communication between the community and our family is not good.
